Jean Montbray, born in Anjou in 1888, studied law until World War I broke out. With the call of his country, he enlisted and became a fighter pilot and earned military honors for valor, including the Croix de Guerre and Legion of Honor. At the end of the war, he returned to Anjou where he met Josephine de Monbourg. They married in 1916 and Josephine’s vineyards became his new passion. He worked the vineyards until his death in 1967. Today, Jean’s passion still thrives throughout the vines of the estate.
